Getting Started
Once you've logged into your ScanTract dashboard, you'll see a "New Analysis" button. Go ahead and click on that – it's your gateway to understanding any contract.
Uploading Your Contract
Upload your contract by either clicking the upload button or by dragging and dropping.
You can also copy and paste the text you want analysed simply by clicking on the link at the bottom of the upload section that says "Show manual text input"
Once your contract is uploaded it will extract the text from the uploaded document and provide you with a short preview and the number of characters extracted.
Choosing Your Analysis Type
This will bring you to our upload page, where the magic begins.
Select the option for the type of analysis you would like to do:
Standard Analysis
This gives you a comprehensive overview of your contract, highlighting key terms, potential risks, and important clauses. It's perfect for getting a quick but thorough understanding of what you're signing.
Advanced Analysis
This is where things get really personalized. Not only do you get everything from the standard analysis, but it will also ask you some questions about your specific situation. This way, ScanTract can tailor the analysis to focus on what matters most to you.
Standard Analysis:
Once you have uploaded your contract, the system will automatically detect the type of contract that has been uploaded. However, you can change this manually if you need.
Once everything is ready to go, you can click on "Analyse Contract"
Advanced Analysis Context
If you have selected Advanced analysis you'll have "Continue to Context" button.
On the Context page there are a few questions to help you provide more context to the contract and to help guide the AI to provide a more specific analysis of your contract.
Required Questions (marked with an asterisk):
- What's your role in this contract? Are you the buyer, seller, employee, tenant? This helps me understand your perspective.
- What do you hope to achieve with this contract? Your goals matter – whether it's job security, fair pricing, or clear terms.
- Which areas should we focus on? Tell me what's most important to you – compensation, timelines, termination clauses, or other specific areas.
Optional But Helpful Questions:
- Any specific concerns or red flags you're worried about? If something's already bothering you about the contract, let me know!
- What's your timeline for this contract? Is this urgent, or do you have time to negotiate?
- Any budget or financial constraints we should consider? This helps me evaluate whether terms are reasonable for your situation.
Those marked with an asterisk require a response in order to proceed with the analysis.
Once all the questions are completed you'll be able to click on the "Analyse Contract" button to proceed with the analysis.
The Analysis Process
Here's the exciting part! Your contract review typically takes just about a minute. For larger, more complex contracts, it might take a bit longer.
Once the analysis is complete you will be taken to the analysis page where you can see the results.
Your Analysis Results
Once I'm finished, you'll be taken to your comprehensive analysis page. Here's what you'll find:
Contract Overview
A clear summary of what type of contract this is and who the parties are.
Risk Assessment
A straightforward risk rating and explanation of the reasoning, so you know exactly what you're getting into.
Key Findings
The most important terms, benefits, and obligations highlighted in plain English.
Potential Issues
Any red flags, unusual clauses, or areas of concern that caught attention.
Next Steps
At the bottom of your analysis page, you'll have two handy options:

Click Upload Document in the app or dashboard and select your file (PDF, DOCX, or image). AI analysis is generated automatically.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, JPEG, PNG. More formats coming soon.
How long does it take to analyse a contract?
Most analyses complete in 30–60 seconds depending on size and complexity.
What types of contracts can ScanTract review?

Is my data secure?
Yes. Documents are encrypted during upload, analysis, and storage. We comply with GDPR and global standards.
Does ScanTract store my contracts permanently?
Free users: files deleted after 30 days. Premium users: optional long-term storage. You can delete anytime.
Does ScanTract share my data with third parties?
No. Contracts remain private. Data may be anonymized for AI improvement, but no personal information is shared.

My document didn’t upload—what should I do?
Check file size (under 20MB), supported format, and your internet connection. If the issue persists, email support@scantract.co.
The AI analysis seems off—can I report it?
Yes. Use the “Feedback” button in your report to flag issues. This helps improve accuracy.
